Terms of Use
Effective October 2, 2026
The short version
- You must be 18 or older.
- Encore is an AI coach. Its suggestions can be wrong and aren't professional advice. You decide what to send.
- Be decent. No harassment, manipulation, scams or hateful content. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users.
- Encore Plus renews automatically through Apple until you cancel in iPhone Settings.
- Free reads have no cash value.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Dakota Fulks, the individual developer of Encore ("Encore", "we", "us"). They cover the Encore iPhone app, its share extension and keyboard, our server, and this website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Encore.
Apple's EULA. Your license to use the Encore app is granted under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Standard EULA"). These Terms add the rules for the Encore service. If these Terms and the Standard EULA conflict on the use of the app itself, the Standard EULA controls.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live, to use Encore. By using Encore you confirm that you are. We'll delete accounts we believe belong to anyone under 18.
3. Your account
You sign in with Sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple ID secure; you're responsible for activity on your account. One person per account. You can delete your account at any time from You › Delete account.
4. What Encore is, and isn't
Encore is a coaching tool. It reads a conversation you choose and suggests what's going on and what you might say. It doesn't send messages for you, and it isn't a dating service.
- Not professional advice. Encore's coaching is not relationship counseling, therapy, mental-health care, medical, legal or financial advice. If you need that kind of help, talk to a qualified professional.
- AI can be wrong. Reads, interest scores, red-flag checks and suggested replies are generated by AI. They can misread tone, miss context or simply be mistaken. Use your own judgment.
- No guaranteed results. We can't promise replies, dates or any outcome.
- Safety checks are a help, not a guarantee. Encore can flag common scam patterns, but it can't detect every scam or bad actor. Never send money to someone you've only met online. Meet in public, tell a friend where you'll be, and trust your instincts.
- You're responsible for what you send. Anything you send to another person is your choice and your message.
5. Acceptable use
Use Encore to connect honestly with people who want to connect with you. You agree not to use the Service to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, bully, intimidate or demean anyone;
- deceive, manipulate, pressure or coerce anyone, including ignoring a "no" or pushing past someone's boundaries;
- scam or defraud anyone, or impersonate another person;
- engage with or seek out anyone under 18 in a romantic or sexual way;
- post or share hateful, discriminatory, violent, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable content in crews or on the leaderboard;
- share another person's private information, photos or messages publicly or to embarrass them;
- break the law or the rules of the dating apps and platforms you use;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with the Service, or get around limits or security;
- create multiple accounts to collect free reads or referral rewards.
6. Other people's messages
Chats contain messages written by other people. Only use Encore with conversations you're part of. Share only what you need for coaching, and don't upload anything you don't have the right to use. Remember that crew rounds show part of a real conversation to your crew; their name is hidden by default, and we ask you to keep it that way unless you have a good reason.
7. Crews, rounds and the leaderboard
Crews let you share short chat excerpts, vote on replies and write in your own. The leaderboard shows a handle you pick. What you post there is "User Content".
Your content and our license
You keep ownership of your User Content. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display and process it only as needed to run those features (for example, showing your round to members of your crew). This license ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law.
You confirm you have the right to post your User Content and that it follows these Terms.
Zero tolerance
There is no place in Encore for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, violent, threatening, discriminatory, or that exposes someone's private information is not allowed. Handles must not be offensive or impersonate anyone.
Reporting and blocking
- Report a round, a reply, a crew member or a leaderboard handle from its menu in the app, or email support@encorecoach.app.
- Block a person from the same menus. You'll stop seeing their rounds, write-ins and leaderboard row.
- Crew owners can remove members from their crew.
We review reports and remove objectionable content within 24 hours of a report. We remove users who post it, and may suspend or delete their accounts, without warning or refund where the law allows.
We don't pre-screen User Content and aren't responsible for what other users post, but we act on what we learn about.
8. Encore Plus subscriptions
Encore Plus gives you unlimited coaching reads, subject to the fair-use limit below. It's offered as an auto-renewing subscription:
- Encore Plus Weekly: $9.99 per week. New subscribers get a 3-day free trial.
- Encore Plus Monthly: $24.99 per month.
The monthly plan has no free trial.
Read packs. You can also buy one-time packs of coaching reads (10 reads for $2.99, 50 reads for $9.99). They aren't subscriptions, don't expire, and are tied to your Encore account. If Apple refunds a pack, its unused reads are removed.
Free trial. If you start the weekly free trial, you won't be charged during the 3 days. The app shows the date the trial ends before you start. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your Apple ID is charged $9.99 at the end of the trial and the subscription renews weekly after that. The trial is available once per Apple ID, as Apple determines eligibility. If you buy a subscription during the trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
Prices are in US dollars and may vary by country. The price shown in the app at purchase applies.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for.
- Deleting the app or your Encore account does not cancel your subscription.
- Apple handles all billing. Refunds are at Apple's discretion under its policies; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
- If we change prices, Apple will notify you as its rules require, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
To restore Plus on a new iPhone, tap Restore purchases on the Encore Plus screen while signed in with the same Apple ID.
9. Free reads, referrals and XP
- New accounts get 3 free coaching reads.
- When a friend joins a crew you own for the first time, you get 3 more free reads, for up to 5 friends, and your friend gets 3 free reads once.
- Free reads, XP, levels, streaks, crew points, titles and badges have no cash value. They can't be sold, transferred, exchanged or redeemed for money, and they end when your account is deleted.
- We may change these programs, or withhold rewards obtained through abuse, such as fake or duplicate accounts.
- Fair use: to keep the Service working for everyone, each account can make up to 80 AI requests per day, on any plan. We may adjust this limit.
10. Our content
Encore, its design, code, coaching prompts and branding belong to us. Coaching results generated for you are yours to use however you like. Don't use our name or logo without permission.
11. Third-party services
Encore relies on Apple (sign-in and payments), Cloudflare (hosting) and Anthropic (AI). Their terms apply to their services. Encore works with chats from other apps, but we aren't affiliated with or endorsed by any dating app or messaging service.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using Encore and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, create risk for others, or if we stop offering the Service. If we discontinue Encore entirely, we'll give reasonable notice where we can. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as disclaimers, limits of liability and governing law) survive termination.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI output will be accurate, or that using Encore will lead to any result. We aren't responsible for the conduct of anyone you meet or talk to, online or offline.
Some places don't allow these disclaimers, so some may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived by contract.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or emotional distress, arising from or related to the Service or your interactions with other people. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Encore in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50.
These limits don't apply to liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
15. Indemnity
If you use the Service in a way that breaks these Terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please email us so we can try to resolve it informally.
If you live in the EEA, the UK or another place whose consumer laws give you the right to bring claims in your home courts or under your local law, nothing here takes that right away.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and for significant changes we'll give notice on this site before they take effect. If you keep using Encore after changes take effect, you accept them. If you don't, stop using Encore and delete your account.
18. Apple-specific terms
If you downloaded Encore from the App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Encore or its content.
- Your license to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store Usage Rules.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Encore.
- If Encore fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation for Encore, to the extent the law allows.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims related to Encore, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection and privacy claims, and intellectual property claims.
- You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and you are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
19. General
If part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it. You can't transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them to someone who takes over Encore. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Standard EULA are the whole agreement between you and us about Encore.
